CLARIFICATION ON LEGAL FEES FOR THE DEFENSE OF GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS MENTIONED BY INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT PROSECUTOR MORENO OCAMPO

The Government wishes to clarify that the figures reported in the media as the legal fees for the defense of Government Officials mentioned by International Criminal Court Prosecutor, Moreno Ocampo, are mere speculations and far from reality. The figure of Kshs.4.7 billion is totally inaccurate and exaggerated. The issue of covering the legal fees of the mentioned officials is still under review and any decision made will be done in accordance with the Constitution and the code of conduct for Civil Servants.
