NAIROBI: ODM's Elections Board to embark on Counties consultative forums in preparation for party elections

The National Elections Board of the Orange Democratic Movement-ODM hits the ground starting Tuesday 17th May 2011 to embark on its programme to create awareness to the party members about the forth-coming grassroots elections.
NEB Secretary Dr. Joseph Misoi says the programme for the stakeholders’ meetings is ready and that from Tuesday next week, they will start holding the forums in all the regions ahead of the elections which are scheduled for May 27 – 30 this year.
The four-tier elections will be held at the Sub-Location/Kijiji level on the 27th May, Location/Ward level on the 28th, Sub-Branch/Constituency level on the 29th while the Branch (County) elections will be held on the 30th of May.
The elections will comprise all the organs of the party namely the Orange Young Democrats League, Orange Women Democrats League and the Mainstream Elections.
Dr. Misoi said on Tuesday 17th and 18th May, the Board shall hold a stakeholders’ forum for the Nyanza and Eastern Counties as follows, the Kisumu Town Forum will be on 17th May 2011 at the Kisumu Town Hall comprising stakeholders from Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homabay Counties. Another team will be in Machakos for the Machakos Town Forum comprising stakeholders from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni Counties.
On the 18th May 2011, stakeholders from Kisii and Nyamira Counties shall converge at the Gusii County Hall for a similar forum. Another team will be in Embu for the Embu Town Forum at the Cannon House comprising stakeholders from Embu, Tharaka, Meru, Isiolo and Marsabit Counties.
Candidates for various positions in the party at the grassroots level will have an opportunity to meet the Board members to be taught on the basics for the elections and how to ensure smooth success of the whole exercise.
