Tunisia is being hit by its worst unrest in decades as anti-government protests have taken to the streets and engaged with the police hit and run style while the police used tear gas and guns to control the crowd.
President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia faces many challenges as demonstrators take to the streets defying curfew and engage the police hit and run battle.  The official count of the number of civilians killed so far is 23 while rights groups put the figure as 60.
In the capital, Tunis, last night large crowd paraded in the streets as they ignored government’s curfew and clashed with the security forces who were trying to enforce the curfew. Protestors attacked mercilessly the police and several people were injured during the ongoing clashes.
Even more remarkable, in the southern city of Gafsa, large crowds of protestors yesterday evening managed to gain the upper hand and was able to chase away the police force, according to eyewitnesses.  However the protestors’ movement is growing I strength day today and ignited the large masses of young unemployed Tunisians.
The country’s young generation is facing unemployment causing large social unrest in the country.  Despite strong economic growth high rate of unemployment still remains the biggest problem in the country.
World leaders including French Prime Minister Francois Fillon condemned the use of force by the Tunisian security forces. “We insist that all parties show restraint and choose the path of dialogue we cannot continue with this disproportionate use of violence”. Fillon said
He added that his government was making great efforts to convince the Tunisian authorities to take the path of dialogue.
